Peer Engagement and Recovery Support Services
Peer Engagement and Recovery Support Services began at CVFC in 2017 through funding from NYS OASAS. The program provides personalized, peer driven support to help individuals engage in recovery, improve wellness, and work toward self-directed goals.
What Peers Can Assist With
Peers use their lived experience to offer practical, nonclinical support, including:
- Advocacy: Helping individuals understand their rights, express their needs, and navigate service systems.
- Linkage: Connecting people to treatment, harm reduction supports, healthcare, housing, employment, and other community resources.
- Recovery Support: Offering encouragement, guidance, goal setting assistance, and support in building recovery strategies.
- Skill Building: Assisting with organization, communication, self advocacy, and problem-solving.
- Health & Wellness: Supporting individuals in developing healthy routines, managing stress, and improving overall wellbeing.
- Limited Transportation: Providing short-distance, recovery related transportation when available (e.g., to treatment, essential appointments, or recovery activities), based on staff availability and program guidelines.
